8. The Fabled Murdering of Prostitutes
Who would have though that featuring a mechanic that allowed you to pick up a prostitute, have your wicked way with her, brutally murder her and then reclaim the money you spent would have cause controversy. Oh, that's right, everybody. It's the controversial feature that's t
alked about, criticised and vilified more than almost any other and in total and utter honesty, I can sort of see why. There's something about the
decision to commit the act, which don't forget isn't an essential part of the gameplay and as such left entirely up to the player, that GTA critics argue encourages, even glamorises misogyny. However with all that said, isn't it this freedom of choice and expression that makes GTA so darn playable in the first place? Is it misogynistic? I'm not qualified enough to definitively answer that question. Is it guiltily hilarious, if only for the shock value? You bet yer sweet ass it is.
