Definitively speaking, we don't have a release date. However, we can likely expect it 2019/2020. So, whilst you might be feverishly waiting to explore a space game by Bethesda, you will most likely have to wait a couple years.

When it comes to Bethesda's flagship release schedule, it is never as simple as estimating the time it takes for them to develop a new game. Elder Scrolls VI is slated to release after Starfield meaning that it is liable to come out in several years time, making the gap between Skyrim and the new title exponentially larger than any other.

What is the point of all this, and why does the absence of any information justify its own place on this list? Because whilst the internet will speculate wildly, as it always does, it is important to know that we will not be seeing this for a long time.

So, don't believe JohnnyXX who claims that Bethesda's precedent for releasing their latest Fallout games the same year that they are announced means that we'll be playing Starfield by supper-time. There is a reason we got a tiny teaser and not a gameplay trailer.
