Bioshock's 10 Best Moments
7. Picking Up The Shotgun - Bioshock
The shotgun is the preferred weapon of choice for many a FPS player, offering substantial damage, a good spread for multiple enemies, and the undeniable feeling of badassery that accompanies it.
The Bioshock team know this. They know that as soon as you set your sights on the shotgun, you are making a dash for it. That's why they decided to scare the crap out of you as soon as you pick it up.
Picture the scene: you have been wading your way through Rapture with a wrench, a pistol, and a machine gun. You've been doing well, but have also picked up a substantial amount of shotgun ammo with no shotgun in sight. Then, as you enter a room you see the unmistakeable glint of a shotty in the distance. You sprint, grab it and then… darkness.
The music screeches, the sound of splicers gets louder and louder and, before you know it, you're blasting away all of that shotgun ammo in a blind panic as a seemingly endless number of splicers come for you.
It finally ends. The lights go up, the music stops and you pause the game to go and change your underwear.
