Bioshock Infinite: 10 Reasons It's Game Of The Year

2. Voice Acting

Accentuating the superb design and wonderful characters is the uniformly outstanding voice acting, which helps immerse us in this world even more. Troy Baker's turn as protagonist Booker DeWitt really cements the nature of his character; the anti-hero has been overdone so much that it can be pretty boring these days, but Baker underplays it, resulting in a character who actually avoids cliche for the most part. The real star of the show, however, is Courtnee Draper as Elizabeth, who gets the majority of the game's emotional heft, and delivers a challenging, well-wrought performance that is responsible for most of our visceral engagement with what's going on. More so than any of the heroes or villains in the game, it is unquestionably Elizabeth who is at once the game's most intriguing, likeable and also somewhat scary character, and it's all thanks to Draper alongside the excellent writing.
