And half-way through the final mission is where everything goes irrevocably off-the-rails. Hendricks takes Sebastian Kruger, the sole survivor of the Singapore disaster, hostage, and claims that all the dead test subjects are still alive. Hendricks kills Kruger, then the player shoots Hendricks and themselves, ending up in the so-called Frozen Forest, where the dead apparently hang out. The supernatural-software entity known as Corvus (pictured above) is then revealed, who helps the dead live on after death within this ambiguous space. The player then has to basically repeat the Demon Within chapter from earlier, fighting hordes of imaginary enemies in the forest, swimming through rivers of blood and, yes, seeing more "ominous" black crows.
3. Kruger Gets Ripped Into Pieces
Corvus, the self-aware software, hangs Kruger up on tree vines and interrogates him about his own existence, and after Kruger calls him a "mistake", Corvus gets incredibly angry, telling him he's no mistake before brutally ripping him into several meaty chunks in unavoidably grotesque fashion.
