Bloodborne: 10 Legitimate Complaints Fans Can't Ignore
2. Having To Constantly Return To The Hunter's Dream
The game insists that you have to return to the Hunter's Dream (the game’s hub world) before moving on to a different area, which means sitting through two irritating loading screens before you can travel to the area you want to go to. This design choice seems like a step backwards.
For context, in previous Souls games after certain events had transpired, you were allowed to travel from one area to another by resting at bonfires - which also replenished your health, gave you a new checkpoint to respawn at and an opportunity to level up your character. Bloodborne has its own version of the bonfires, but keeping with the motif of steampunk, it is replaced with a lantern that players can light.
The lantern doesn’t replenish health and doesn’t allow you to level up. Instead like Dark Souls II you'll get a spawn-point, but have to travel to a hub-world - the Hunters Dream - to do things that used to be available at the touch of a button.
Simply put, people should be able to decide if they want to return to craft weapons or deposit items, a drop-down menu of locations to choose from and a levelling option would be perfect otherwise.
