Borderlands 3 Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs

1. You Can Totally Pick The Wrong Character

For as much as Borderlands offers you 4 fairly awesome characters to bomb around Pandora and its surrounding planets as, one of them - Moze - feels nowhere near as multifaceted as the rest.

Say you pick Fl4k, the Beastmaster. You have access to three creatures with their own abilities, plus a ton of combo attacks and elemental modifiers. Zane the Operative can attack from multiple places at once thanks to his holographic clones, and Amara is the game's mage, coming with scores of visually stunning magic attacks and combos.

By comparison, Moze's special being a giant mech means everything has to route through that. It's great to pop this Overwatch D.Va-style mode and wipe everyone out, but that's it. You're always clicking the button for an increased damage toggle, and that can lead to the realisation after hours of play, that you've picked the "wrong" character.
