Breath Of The Wild 2: 5 Things We Want (And 5 We Don’t)
9. Don't: Slippery When Wet
At first, the slippery when wet climbing mechanic which caused you to slip during downpours felt like a nit-pick.
Sure, it was frustrating, but the game was about forging a new path and battling against acts of nature, so that's par for the course. But then, it happened again, and again and again, forcing even the most tranquil of players to start feeling some gamer rage.
Climbing is such an integral part of Breath of the Wild's exploration, so losing your grip all the time whenever it rains was a real pain. Most of the time, the only option was the wait it out, as you couldn't even start a fire to sit beside. No one wants to be waiting for clearer skies when trying to escape into a fantasy world.
Losing the mechanic altogether would be a mistake, as although it's frustrating, it forces players to think outside the box and brings a sense of realism to Hyrule. However, the system needs to change.
Some great ways to battle it would be reducing the slipping distance by half or allowing certain items (such as the Zora armour) to help scale wet cliffs.
