Breath Of The Wild 2: 5 Things We Want (And 5 We Don’t)
3. Don't: Enemy Repetition
A hero is only as good as the foes they vanquish, which is why familiarity can often breed contempt. Breath of the Wild does have a decent set of enemies to take your sword to, but after sixty plus hours in the game, the lack of variety starts to become noticeable.
You'll spend the majority of your time in Hyrule battling against Bokoblins, Moblins and Lizalfros, with the occasional challenge (like a Guardian or Lynel) tossed in. The game does a solid job of increasing the difficulty with a colour based level hierarchy that evolves with your progress, but this fresh layer of paint doesn't make a Bokoblin feel any different.
Ultimately, if Breath of the Wild 2 wants to set out something fresh for the player, then it should introduce a whole new set of creatures to battle. Players will likely come into the sequel with all the knowledge they need to fight the regular enemies, so players hope that Nintendo will rectify this.
From what we've seen in the trailer, there will be some new additions to the villain roster, but there's still an abundance of Bokoblins, so it remains to be seen.
