9. Track Record
Regardless of the criticism that Call of Duty attracts from critics and fans of other titles, the track record of COD titles, and the most recent in the series in particular paints a picture of a franchise at the top of its game. COD titles consistently inspire millions of sales, and most importantly millions of game hours in the online multiplayer modes, and that success has a lot to do with the simple fact that the development teams know how to make games that appeal to fans. Added to that fact is that Treyarch are the team handling this COD title, as opposed to Infinity Ward, who I feel are the weaker of the two, in terms of not only map design but the fundamentals of making a balanced video game. In World at War and Black Ops in particular, Treyarch have released the two best Call of Duty titles, outstripping even the phenomenally successful Modern Warfare titles (and the third one by some distance). In short, they have already offered two exceptional games, and if they can continue their upward trend between games, Black Ops 2 will be a sure-fire hit. If anyone can do it, Treyarch can.
