Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3 - 10 Reasons The Series Should Return To World War 2

8. Treyarch Already Perfected The Experience

While it was received as being a rather reductive step back at the time (which in reality was a fair criticism, considering it came directly after the unprecedented smash hit that was Call of Duty 4), Treyarch's World at War has since gone on to become one of the most fan-adored entries in the entire CoD franchise. With it's gritty violence, explosive single player and some of the most iconic multiplayer maps of the entire series, World at War is fondly remembered as an odd experiment for the franchise, and while it perhaps came out at the wrong place at the wrong time, Treyarch's esteemed proficiency in crafting an incredible World War 2 shooter simply can't be overlooked. The developers themselves have always seemed to fair better with historical settings; the original Black Ops created the most memorable and intricate Call of Duty campaign there's ever been, while the flashback sequences in that game's sequel added a unique sense of cinematic flair missing in so many of the other entries into the franchise. With two other developers working on futuristic Call of Duty's, it only makes sense to let Treyarch make the game fans have been clamouring for since 2008, doesn't it?
