Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3 - 10 Reasons The Series Should Return To World War 2

4. Established Series Features Will Feel Fresh

There's a couple of features you can expect to see going into Call of Duty every single year; from varying types of grenades to red dot sights, when a new entry into the franchise releases every November players go into the title knowing more or less exactly how every different weapon and perk will work. But what if these established features were radically changed? What if you went into a Call of Duty game having to use something other than an infra-red scope to counteract smoke grenades? What if you couldn't reduce a weapon's recoil to virtually naught and actually had to learn how each gun handled? Going back to World War 2 would inherently switch up established franchise mechanics without actually having to re-invent the wheel or introduce a whole new wave of weapons and gadgets. And twisting established mechanics might even prove more interesting to series veterans than additions such as jet-packs or slide-boosts. Rather than just piling on new features, a move back to World War 2 would demand that familiar weapons and explosives evolve to take on new and exciting roles that would make them useful or challenging in entirely different ways than what players are used to.
