Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3 Beta - 12 Things You Need To Know
7. The Graphics Still Leave Much To Be Desired
In fairness, BO3 is definitely a good-looking game, for though the series is continually harmed by its need to be optimised for the PS3 and Xbox 360, the character and weapon detail in particular are easily the best they've ever looked. In addition, the water on Hunted looks absolutely fantastic. However, the CoD series has always had a problem with building textures: from afar they typically look solid, but up close, they often look horribly flat and bland. Take a look at the above screenshot: the floor textures, the walls, the grass, and even the character model in this instance all look incredibly bland, and could easily have been put out on the PS4 two years ago. By now nobody expects the CoD games to make huge visual leaps every year, but would it kill the devs to put a little more effort into the textures? Sure, the game is lightning-paced enough that many players won't even notice, but nothing takes you out of the experience more than seeing a low-res wall texture when you're hiding behind it from a hail of gunfire.
