Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 - 10 Past Mistakes Activision Can't Repeat

10. Make Co-Op More Compelling

Although Call of Duty has gone back and forth on including co-op in its single-player campaigns, Treyarch have been the one studio who've toyed with the feature the most. Being included in World at War and returning in Black Ops 3, the ability to blast through the campaign with a group of friends was enjoyable, but the studio rarely ever played around with the concept or integrated it in a convincing way.

Perhaps to not alienate those who play through the missions on their own, Treyarch's titles only occasionally leaned on co-op to create unique gameplay experiences, usually amounting to the occasional diverging pathway through a level.

Treyarch should get more imaginative than this if they're going to implement co-op play in the next game though. In fact, the studio could make it part of the narrative itself. These titles are all about distrust, espionage and twists, so imagine how great it would have been, for example, if the Reznov twist was revealed in the original title after one of your squad had been playing as him the whole time.

There's the potential for Treyarch to go wild with co-op, and while the feature will always be welcome in any form, it would be a little disappointing if they only do the bare minimum with it in their upcoming release.
