The first of now three times we thought we'd see the Aether storyline end, we weren't sure how much further Treyarch could push the Zombies mode past zombified monkeys, time-loops, and a literal George Romero boss, but we were all left with egg on our face when we found out we were headed to the Moon.

A feeling no other Zombies map would have (until low-gravity returned in Der Eisendrache), on a gameplay, sound design, and atmospheric level, there is nothing quite like the final map in Black Ops 1's DLC season, Moon.

As we finally came face-to-face with Samantha, the young girl in control of the Zombies, nothing but a spectacular experience would ensue.

A wonder weapon that makes Zombies inflate and pop? Sure. Teleporting nova crawlers? Absolutely. Pack a Punch being in Area 51 of all places? Why not? With a mix of tight corridors, opening training spaces, and a jump-pad playground, Moon had everything to be one of the most replayable experiences in the entire saga.

With excavators threatening to cut off parts of the map almost indefinitely if you weren't quick to disable them, and an easter egg ending which quite literally changed the world, Moon saw Black Ops off with three large, Earth-bound bangs.
