4. The Campaign Is Repetitive & Weirdly Dull

To Infinity Ward's credit, they totally doubled down on the controversial sci-fi madness of their campaign, but the strange thing is that it still manages to be a rather repetitious and even quite boring slog.

The problem is that, when you lift up that glossy sci-fi sheen, the components are still extremely similar: the formula is insanely transparent as you're forced to debrief between missions, take an elevator back down to your transport (as blatant a secret loading screen as you're ever likely to see), assault another space compound and collect something inside or flip a switch before being extracted.

Yes, it looks gorgeous, but the core is depressingly hollow, and without a single truly interesting human character to prop things up, it ends up feeling absolutely soulless throughout.
