Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Review - 6 Ups & 5 Downs

2. Spec-Ops Is Dull & Unbalanced

Outside of the campaign and main online multiplayer mode, Modern Warfare features a co-op Spec Ops mode, which continues the campaign's story through a series of four-player online skirmishes.

It's basically Modern Warfare's answer to the absent Zombies mode, but between its tedious, repetitive mission objectives - collecting an endless string of trinkets or killing various terrorist commanders - and the mode's shockingly high difficulty, it's not much fun to play.

Even mere minutes into a Spec Ops match, you're likely find yourself overrun with a fleet of generic A.I. foes, creating an unbalanced feel that's genuinely more annoying than it is entertaining.

Some may appreciate the challenge, but for most players it's more likely to serve as a brief time waster mode they try out and then never return to. Compared to Zombies, this feels incredibly low-effort.
