Call Of Duty: Ranking Every Game Mode From Worst To Best
20. Team Defender/Hunter-Prey
Though the FPS genre and handheld consoles have never been a match made in heaven, Activision sought to exploit every possible outlet for their franchise during its heyday, releasing one title each for the PSP and Vita and five for the DS. The latter set were all stripped down accompaniments to the three Modern Warfare games and the first two Black Ops, though they did each offer a unique campaign.
The first two also brought a unique game mode to the table in the form of Hunter/Prey. This tasks players with holding onto an item for as long as possible without being killed, with the winner being the one who has held it for the longest period when time runs out.
Originally a free-for-all only mode, Hunter/Prey also became a team game in its second appearance, enabling players to defend the carrier (who is penalised by having their sprint ability disabled).
In its mission to offer as many game modes as possible, Modern Warfare 3 brought Hunter/Prey to a wider audience, changing a few mechanics to make it kill-focused and changing its name to Team Defender. It didn't really catch on, making no further appearances in the series, but offered a frenzied experience that was a blessing for players wishing to level up quickly.
