Casting The Perfect Red Dead Redemption Film

7. Jeff Bridges As Uncle

Ian McShane Red Dead Redemption
Working Title Films

Uncle was certainly a very different character compared to most people in Red Dead Redemption. Where most people were either resourceful, intelligent, ruthless or all of these things at once, Uncle was always the good for nothing slouch who was just there for comedy relief.

Always asleep or unwell when work needs done, but wide awake when there is whiskey on the go, it was always a mystery why Uncle was allowed to be a part of the Van Der Linde Gang in the first place. But despite his lack of enthusiasm to do any form of manual labour, Uncle was still an unforgettable character of the Red Dead series.

After living a life of petty crime, Uncle was able to redeem himself by demonstrating his strong sense of loyalty to Marston and his family when he gave his life to defend them from the surprise attack by Ross and the US Army.

He would not have to do much, but Jeff Bridges would certainly be able to nail the characters mannerism and personality, much like he did in The Big Lebowski when he played The Dude.
