Castlevania Season 3 Review: 5 Ups & 2 Downs
1. Too Much Exposition
It's the writers' purpose to ensure that each episode finds unique and clever ways to weave in important information about the characters and/or storylines in order to keep them updated or catch them up. Obviously dialogue is the easiest way to accomplish that, as conversations between multiple people are a great tool that can relay that information in a completely natural way.
One thing, however, that doesn't work so well is when characters end up talking to themselves especially when said character is reflecting on information we already know. That's not to say that the device can't be utitlised in a clever way, but use it too much and it sticks out like a sore thumb.
Unfortunately, that was the case here as there were just too many times that characters had a private conversation with themselves, expositing information to the viewers in a way that didn't feel all that natural. Another side-effect of the extended episode count? Perhaps. And sadly, it's one that it could have done without.
Now, for the positives...
