First up, know that Crash has a really cool-looking additional attack in Crash 2 and 3, pulled off by sliding and immediately hitting spin. It's a more angular, 45 degree version than his horizontal standard, but actually has a specific use - Time Trials.

Say you're coming up against a stack of multiple crates containing precious seconds for your score - you'll wait to break on through the whole lot without losing speed. The regular horizontal spin only hits the boxes closest to you - meaning you have to wait and spin again to catch the rest - and the slide only hits those on the bottom row.

This is where the slide-spin comes in, as not only will Crash stay at full speed, but the more angled attack catches everything in its path.

Perfect.
