Crash Bandicoot: Ranking Every Game From Worst To Best
16. Crash Bandicoot Purple: Ripto's Rampage
Every child that was brought up with a PlayStation wanted only two things from the technological tycoons over at Sony. A PlayStation 2, which most of them got rather early, and a title that pitted, or even paired, two of PlayStation's biggest mascots to interact somehow.
Those lucky buggers managed to be gifted both, although gifted may not be the correct word. As the latter - Ripto's Rampage - despite being considerably acclaimed to a higher degree in lieu of its counterpart, was simply abysmal.
The abhorrence that comes with eager anticipation, only to be given a glorified collection of mini-games that could've starred any character, is an instant misdirection.
This would be forgivable if there was any professional expertise applied in the writing department, but lazily constructed, incoherent storytelling nails the coffin shut. Which is quite fitting, considering this game was ultimately dead on arrival.
Oh, and if you're curious about Spyro's version of events, just watch a short YouTube video. That's roughly going to be the duration of the entirety of anyone's playthrough anyway as both of these iterations are exceedingly short.
