Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best
8. Dr Neo Cortex
Cortex and his arch nemesis Crash both start off the game as the two playable balanced characters, despite both demonstrably having decidedly unbalanced brains.
However, the Balanced characters are often the most inviting to play, bringing more speed than the Handling class without the drifting difficulty of the Speedsters.
Unfortunately for Cortex though, inviting only gets you so far. There’s appeal in those categories sure, but to really excel at the game you need to take risks. He’s also in the same category as Crash himself, which diminishes his appeal when so many people will want to play as the face of the franchise.
It’s hard not to compare Crash & Mario, with the two platforming legends having success in a kart racer, although the two franchises and main series games are very different from one another.
One thing they do share though is a fixation on a central villain: Cortex & Bowser respectively. Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled gives you the opportunity to play as some of the lesser spotted villains of the series, and as a result of years of Cortex oversaturation, the mad scientist loses a slice of appeal here.
