Crash Team Racing PS1: Ranking EVERY Racer From Worst To Best
3. Fake Crash
Fake Crash was definitely a better selection than regular Crash back on the original disc. The same probably isn't true today, and the rankings for Nitro Fueled will reflect that, but 1999 was a different era.
Before everyone had easy access to the internet (also known as The Land Before Time), video games were able to spring these surprises on us. With Avengers: Endgame for example, there was a conscious effort from the Marvel fanbase not to spoil anything, yet within hours of the premiere YouTube thumbnails were advertising several major moments in the movie.
Crash Team Racing was obviously not the cultural event that Endgame was, but the fact remains that these days, everyone would know about Fake Crash and exactly how to unlock him.
Not so in 1999. Fake Crash was a hilarious surprise that awaited the player upon completing Adventure Mode. It was left somewhat bittersweet by the absence of Nitrous Oxide, but that still only drags Fake Crash down to third.
The slack jawed, goofy toothed Crash rip off was a brilliantly cartoonish addition to an already wacky game, and deservedly takes the bronze medal.
