6. ANOTHER Four-Tier Loot System

What already feels like an outdated bygone of this generation we'll be MORE than happy to leave behind?

Four tier loot systems.

Pioneered by Diablo 3 back in 2012, this generation it feels like every triple-A game dev just defaults to the same mix of grey, green, blue and purple gear.

Comprising everything from The Division to Borderlands, Assassin's Creed to Anthem and Fortnite, gameplay for Cyberpunk points to the exact same "four bucket system" being rolled out yet again.

This speaks to the aforementioned issue with CD Projekt RED relying on established frameworks rather than their own, but in gameplay terms, it means you'll be going through the same acquisition loop over and over again.

Loot systems inherently encourage a wasteful way to play. You're forever hoovering up and discarding 10x more gear than you keep, which discourages character builds and takes the visual focus of the game off specific items or rewards, and onto groups of tat to chew through.
