Dark Souls: 8 Incredible Moments That Made Us Hardcore Fans
3. Fighting Sif, The Great Grey Wolf
Okay, we're including another boss fight. But this one is completely different, we promise. As is customary with other boss fights within the series, most players will get excited at their impending victory over a low health boss. After all, you've probably spent enough time on the losing end of an unbearable beating. Killing Sif, however, becomes a somewhat somber moment, making you think twice before putting the beast down. Low on life the dutiful wolf will limp around futilely trying to attack you with slow cumbersome swipes. He is defeated, and yet he does not give up in his duty to protect his masters grave. What makes this fight even more uniquely heartbreaking is the addition of the DLC story, which takes place many years in the past where you can stumble across a helpless young pup, called Sif. If youre able to save him in the past before attempting to fight him in the present, youll be greeted with an alternative cut scene. He will recognize you as his savior from many years ago and proceed by howling at the moon while reluctantly picking up his weapon to engage you in battle. He obviously doesn't really want to fight you, thus making the final blow to the limping pup even harder to follow through with. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRiyUSxVsqk With the aptly melancholic soundtrack, the amazingly unique boss, and the painfully sweet story of the DLC, the battle with Sif undoubtedly remains one of the greatest the Souls series has to offer.
