Dark Souls: 8 Incredible Moments That Made Us Hardcore Fans

1. Discovering Anor Londo's Existence

Unlike the other discoveries on this list, Anor Londo remains an integral part of the plot of Dark Souls and venturing there is mandatory in order to complete the game. But this doesn't make its reveal any less of a spectacularly breathtaking surprise. Many hours into the game and you€™ll start to get a grasp of the geography of Lordran, from the top of the bell tower that overlooks the lands to the filthy depths of blighttown and the fiery expanse of the world below. It€™s a big world, and it€™s hard to imagine it getting that much bigger€ until€ You manage to bypass the deadly traps of Sen's Fortress and reach what appears to be the very top of the world - where you're promptly flung into battle with titanic boss, the Iron Golem. Defeating this giant at the top of Sen€™s Fortress will prompt a cut scene where two Bat Wing Demons carry you off of the huge tower and up over the mountain€™s edge, revealing the huge sun-drenched city of Anor Londo. Its structure, scale and beauty were unlike anything that had been witnessed within the game thus far, and its unexpected reveal only added to the sense of amazement as players were dropped into a whole new world within the already huge world they'd come to love/hate. Here's the cutscene of Anor Londo's amazing reveal... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qn4cQsni6PE Discovering that this amazing huge lost city was just out of sight all along still remains one of the most powerful moments of all the Souls games, being the pinnacle example of From Software€™s ability to surprise you with their finely tuned art of concealment and genius geographical design.
