Dark Souls 2: The 10 Most Ridiculous Ways We All Died
5. Laggable Goodness
Getting through Blighttown was the true frustration for me when playing Dark Souls. Not only is it one of the most ridiculously difficult areas in the game with poison enemies and swamps, dangerous creatures and precarious cliffs, but it's also keen to the odd frame-rate hiccup that makes surviving the hideous area even more awful. Due to massive lag, I've repeatedly died in Blighttown due to a completely laggy roll that just didn't work and saw me fall off the cliff, mistimed my strikes on an enemy and been killed, been poisoned more times than I can count and been crushed by more than a few boulders by the giant fellas near Queelag's lair. Blighttown is infamous for its lagging problems, but I honestly believe it's intentional design by the game developers just to annoy us further. Surely it can't be coincidental that one of the hardest areas in the game is made even harder just by a bit of lag? This is Dark Souls after all. Everything that isn't nailed down tries to kill you, and even the game engine is rooting behind the scenes for your death again and again in the swamps of this lovely locale.
