Dark Souls: Top 8 Boss Fights
6. Gwyn, Lord of Cinder
The final boss of Dark Souls is one tough SOB. The battle starts off in one of the coolest fashions: Gwyn just slowly stands up and then jumps towards you. No cutscene or dialogue here. It's a great way to start the fight, especially if you have been paying attention to the lore of Dark Souls and know about Gwyn's back story and influence in the game. Even the background music is simple yet affective. Gwyn is one of the harder boss fights in the game. He is very fast and can inflict a lot of damage. Like Sif, he is also somewhat random in his attack pattern, perhaps more than Sif, and so requires even more attention to detail during the fight itself. Gwyn likes to keep up his pressure on the player too boot, so not only is he fast, but he doesn't give you much room to think let alone react either. It speaks volumes that one of the most effective ways to beat Gwyn is to properly execute parries and to riposte with each successful parry. It's one of the harder moves to pull off in the game that requires timing and being confident enough to execute it; one missed parry will likely lead to death. It's not the only viable method, but it sure is effective. Trust the final boss of the game to push you to improve your own playing abilities.Lord Gwyn trembled at the Dark - Darkstalker Kaathe
