Until Dawn: 10 Things That Look Absolutely Terrifying

10. Quick-Time Slasher Events

A key part of the gameplay in Until Dawn seems to be Quick Time Events. The playable character uses the movement in their controller to choose whether to run or hide, and has to act quickly to perform tasks such as picking up a weapon whilst trying to escape. This kind of button prompt-based gameplay is reminiscent of Heavy Rain, particularly when Madison is trying to escape her pursuer. When it comes to periods of the game where you€™re escaping an imminent killer, as seen in the preview, QT events will definitely up the pressure and hopefully make it a more authentic experience (whether you ever thought you wanted an authentic experience of escaping a serial killer or not). The preview doesn€™t seem to offer as much autonomy as perhaps one would expect from a game that is purported to have so much to offer, but obviously a gameplay demo won€™t be able to show off everything there is to show. Ultimately, using these events in scenes of high pressure will help increase the stressfulness of the atmosphere, creating an excellent sense of panic that mirrors what the events they depict would invoke.

Fan of Taylor Swift and the Dead Kennedys (a duet I can only dream of). I like dystopias, slasher films, and video games that make me feel things.
