Days Gone: 13 Essential Tips & Tricks The Game Doesn't Tell You

7. Purchase Survival And Focus Perks First

Though Days Gone is a solid game, it makes a cardinal sin when it comes to its upgrade tree. Instead of starting you out at a competent skill level and then using unlockables to makes you feel more powerful, Deacon is wholly underpowered across the first few hours and you need to be smart in how you invest your skill points.

The Thorn in Your Side skill is handy early on, as it gives you the chance of recovering arrows, which require special components to craft that you only really stumble across when you're specifically looking for them. Focus Shot is a great as well, as it gives you a window to slow down time and pick off Freaker headshots when you're feeling overwhelmed.

They're the two big starter ones, and once you've played you should get a feel for how you prefer to approach combat and exploration, but a lot of the later Survival skills are going to be useful as well, like the ones that allow you to see enemies through walls and regenerate stamina quicker.
