Days Gone 2: 10 Major Questions It Must Answer
3. How Much Of A Part Did She Play In Creating The Virus?
Sarah's wasted potential in the story doesn't just end with her determined to make a cure, but in how little the designers seemed to care about her role in the Freaker virus' creation before the outbreak. One of the most emotional sequences in the game comes when Sarah realises that her research unknowingly contributed to the actual apocalypse, as she breaks down and recalls how she might have been able to prevent the planet's destruction.
There's so many interesting tidbits brought up during the sequence; how much she knew about her employer's real intentions, some political espionage going on behind the scenes, and how the virus actually spread. It's all so juicy, and recontextualises the entire narrative, but once the emotion of the scene is over, it's never mentioned again.
Sarah never shows any interest in pursuing this thread more, or finding out what actually went down those two years ago, and like her search for the cure, it's dropped from the story entirely in favour of Deacon's rescue mission.
