4. Clunky Technicals
Again, this is "only" the demo of the game, so a lot could have been cleaned up since this build of the demo was made, but on the strength of it, it seems like there's going to be a lot of irritating and clunky mechanics in Dead Space 3, and they're primarily a result of the decision to include co-op play. The first is that if your team-mate runs to the next section before you're ready, you'll just suddenly be transported into a cut-scene. While it's a common complaint with co-op games and difficult to avoid, it's nevertheless extremely jarring and doesn't help to create a consistent or coherent atmosphere. The other issue I had with the demo was the constant "Ladder blocked by partner" display that appeared; apparently in this game you are unable to climb a ladder at the same time as your ally. That seems awfully 1998, no?
