Death Stranding: 21 WTF Moments You Need To See To Believe
19. Troy Baker's Insanely Hammy Performance
Though Death Stranding's performances are largely earnest attempts to make sense of Kojima's oft-ridiculous dialogue, there's one performance that's on a whole other planet to all the others.
Legendary video game actor Troy Baker voices and provides performance capture for one of the game's primary antagonists, the terrorist Higgs, and the character's dementedly over-the-top nature allows Baker to swing for the fences.
Baker is clearly having the time of his life chewing through the over-the-top dialogue, breaking the fourth wall and openly talking about the game's "grind" and the upcoming "good old-fashioned boss fight" he's about to have with Sam. Baker makes the gloriously ridiculous best of it all.
In a more self-serious game Baker's work could've caused a dramatic derail, but given that Death Stranding is basically the world's most expensive anime, it's a perfect fit.
