Death Stranding: 21 WTF Moments You Need To See To Believe

18. The Tongue-In-Cheek Product Placement

Hideo Kojima is no stranger to putting product placement in his games, what with Metal Gear Solid 3 literally shilling for CalorieMate energy bars while Metal Gear Solid 4 included paid placements for iPods and Sony Ericsson phones.

But Death Stranding takes this to an altogether more shameless and ridiculous level, by including Monster energy drinks in Sam's private room.

And any time you take a sip of your canteen to regain some stamina, you'll be reminded that you just took a swig of that energy-giving battery acid.

Even more bizarre, though, is the poster for Norman Reedus' AMC show "Ride with Norman Reedus," which is plastered on the side of Sam's bathroom and appears whenever he goes for a number two.

Heartman's high-tech abode also contains Innr smart lighting, with one unsubtle tracking shot panning past the lighting unit with the company's logo in close-up.

The product placement isn't ever enough to compromise the gameplay, but few AAA games could get away with such complacent hocking of corporate wares.
