The rainbow visible in the sky appears to be upside down, and is actually a phenomena known as a circumzenithal arc and is a real-life meteorological event that occurs when light refracts through ice crystal particles in the atmosphere, rather than through water droplets which cause cause a more common rainbow.

The inclusion of the circumzenithal arc shows further proof that perhaps that world of Death Stranding is undergoing environmental stress.
