Death Stranding Trailer Breakdown: 10 Things You Need To See

2. Strands And Credits

As the camera focuses in one Mads Mikkelsen's character, his night vision and helmet disappear in a flash of dissolving light (a lot like the SKULLs' cool trick in Metal Gear Solid 5) as he seems to survey the area. The group definitely appear to be searching or hunting for someone, or something, in particular.

With his hand raised, Mikkelsen's character issues an order for his soldiers to advance. Their strands detach from their leader and we see more of the cool orange glow effect while they carry out the order. As their strands are disconnected, they withdraw in to the mid section of their commander's body while the camera pans up to reveal his compass spinning out of control.

A compass spinning like this often means that it can't find a magnetic center. It's worth noting that throughout the trailer, this only happens as the orange effect is triggered.

Finally, as the camera comes to rest on Mads Mikkelsen's face, he smiles to himself, indicating that he's found what he's looking for. Crucially, he also appears to be missing the black oil substance from his features which could indicate that the condition is the direct result of being connected to his troops.

And with that, fade to credits.
