Destiny 2: 10 Big Things Bungie Must Fix

1. Absent Storyline

You knew this was coming. You can't play Destiny and not notice how appallingly it's written. It's sad to even hear of rumors of the far richer sci-fi tale that might have been, but arguably more depressing to speculate on the sheer volume of deadline-pushing and content-pulling necessary to turn it into the skeleton of a narrative that's currently struggling to prop Destiny up. It's not even fair to call it bad - apart from highlighting such lines as, "I don't even have time to explain why I don't have time to explain." Destiny's story is closer to unfinished, or non-existent altogether. From the second your Guardian opens his or her eyes, things get off to a slow start at breakneck speed. So much nothing is happening, and it's all happening too fast to care anyway. The game never loses this absurd pace, and by the third planet, you'll likely have no idea what you're doing. (Spoilers: The Dark Below, promised to redefine how the game treats storytelling, doesn't change that.) So yes, Destiny 2 could probably use an extra writer or to. Or some appropriate planning. Or damn near anything. What are your hopes for Destiny 2? Do you want the sequel to come about at all?

A freelance games writer, you say? Typically battling his current RPG addiction and ceaseless perfectionism? A fan of horror but too big a sissy to play for more than a couple of hours? Spends far too much time on JRPGs and gets way too angry with card games? Well that doesn't sound anything like me.
