Destiny 2: 9 Big Questions Bungie Must Answer At E3 2017

9. How Much Has The Sandbox Been Expanded?

Besides a handful of shallow activities scattered about its free roam areas, Bungie never quite managed to give players enough incentive to explore the solar system in Destiny, but it certainly tried.

Both the Court of Oryx and Archon's Forge activities, introduced with post-launch gameplay extensions, proved that the studio knows exactly how to entice players into exploring derelict ships and SIVA-infested danger zones, but those are the exception, not the standard.

Activating sporadically pulsating beacons that bark 'kill this!' or 'collect that!' orders into your Guardian's ear don't make for interesting optional content. The delivery method is lazy and the activity itself becomes tedious after the first completion. Simply put, there's absolutely no mystery or sense of discovery in any of Destiny's Patrol areas, it all feels empty and disjointed.

Bungie's already addressing one of those misgivings by getting NPCs out of the Tower and into the field, and Lost Sectors - mini dungeons, if you will - sound like a promising start, but it needs to show a whole lot more before I come away convinced.
