Destiny 2 Beta: 7 Ups & 2 Downs
3. New Weapons Feel Fantastic (As Does Shooting In General)
If there's one major takeaway from Destiny, it's that no one crafts a shooter quite like Bungie.
The team conquered the world off the back of their proficiency with bullets in the Halo trilogy, and it stands to reason that the only reason Destiny didn't fall apart completely back in 2014, was because it played stupidly well.
Bungie's home blend of headshot-nailing bliss helped cultivate a fanbase where the average hour count across all players is a whopping 500 hours, and though Destiny 2 only touches up minor things, the core feel of firing weapons remains immaculate.
This factors into some of the new high rate-of-fire Auto Rifles and Submachine Guns, as the former can be 'charged up' chaingun-style to unleash a constant stream of white-hot lead, while the other feels like busting open a pressurised water main whenever you touch the trigger.
You can hop between weapons and class powers in the pause menu even during matches, letting you get a feel for what works best with your particular play-style. Such has been the appeal of Destiny all along, and that sense of intensity is still present and correct.
