Destiny 2 Gameplay Reveal: 10 Things We Learned
2. Raid/Nightfall Matchmaking (Sort Of)
If you ask anyone who played the first Destiny solo then they will tell you one of the most annoying things was finding a group to do the nightfall with, and especially to do raids with. It was so annoying that nearly 50% of the player base from Destiny never finished a raid according to Bungie.
Well all that is set to change come Destiny 2, thanks to the clan revamp and a little thing Bungie is calling Guided Games.
Guided Games is going to be LFG (Looking-For Group), encompassed inside of Destiny 2. Solo players will be able to search and meet up with clans to do raids, the nightfall and any activity that does not natively matchmake. The "sort of" in this comes from clans choosing to accept or decline solo player requests to join them, and can thus accept or deny helping those seeking help. There is no guarantee. Most clans will probably assume the worst and imagine the player has no idea what they are doing, and thus it's hard to imagine them wanting to carry a random player.
Even if some clans actively deny any entry into their games, there's no denying that this is a step in the right direction for Destiny. There will certainly be clans out there that are willing to help, and it will give solo players a chance to do those activities they hadn't before. It being in the game and not requiring players to looks elsewhere will also help, thanks to the ease of access.
