Destiny 2 Gameplay Reveal: 10 Things We Learned

6. Guns Have Been Completely Reworked

This is probably one of the more confusing parts of the reveal, as there's just not a real solid understanding on how it's all going to work moving forward. There have been some reports by players who were at the reveal and had a hands-on with the game however.

The three new slots your guns will fall into are now Kinetic, Energy and Power. Kinetic replacing primary, energy replacing secondary and power replacing heavy. But here's where things get a little wonky.

It seems as though what was traditionally considered a primary gun in Destiny can now be equipped in both the kinetic and energy slots. Anything in kinetic will however do simple kinetic damage and will not have a burn unlike guns in the energy slot. Auto, scout and pulse rifles as well as hand cannons and now side-arms will fall into these slots. Along with the new addition of SMGs and mini-guns. Yes, mini-guns.

Power guns are going to be heavy weapons of the old like rockets as well as the new like grenade launchers and even your shotguns, sniper rifles and fusion rifles. That's right, old secondaries are now considered power weapons and sit along side heavy weapons. It'll be interesting to see the balance between the weapons because they used to all be so drastically different.

It's also worth noting guns will now have mods. It's not clear how they are going to work exactly because they weren't active, but there was a slot available to add a "gun mod." Maybe it's simply cosmetic or maybe it will change how a gun performs, that's something players will just have to wait to find out.
