Destiny 2 Gameplay Reveal: 10 Things We Learned

Here's a mode in FPS games that you either love or you hate, PvP.

The Crucible is Destiny's PvP mode, and over time has received so many patches, so many buffs and nerfs that it's hard to imagine what it used to be. When it comes to Destiny 2, it looks like things are going to be starting over, especially with the change on how weapons are formatted.

A lot of the changes that have been reported are being done to the balancing aspect of PvP. Anyone who played the Crucible knows all the moves and abilities that were one hit kills or very powerful. It seems as though those days are gone. There is no longer any ability - other than a super - that can kill in one hit. So all you shoulder-charging Titans out there be wary, it now also takes three melee hits to kill as opposed to two. These changes seem to put more of an emphasis on gun fights.

Ammo pick-ups are a tad different now, too. You will not spawn with any power ammo, just as you don't spawn with secondary ammo right now. When it comes to power ammo though, unlike the heavy ammo that dropped for anyone around the crate when it was picked up, power ammo will only go to those who open the crate.

The new mode will be Countdown, the first attack/defend game mode in Destiny. The goal is to plant a bomb at the enemy base, and then defend it until it explodes, so it's essentially Demolition with one bomb.

On top of all these changes comes the most drastic - the Crucible will be moving to 4v4 instead of 6v6 or 3v3 across all modes. With most games going much bigger in terms of lobby size, and even a 6v6 being considered small, it's very hard to imagine a 4v4 environment working out in the long run.
