Diablo 4: 10 Huge Things It Must Fix From 3

8. Restarting Boss Fights, Cutscenes & Enrage Timers

For some strange reason, Diablo III features a cutscene that then requires players to fight major boss characters with only one life. While this made the fights more exciting, and resurrecting allies more challenging, it added several problems when playing in multiplayer. There were timers on accepting the boss fight, and waiting for other players could be a major hassle.

But if you were unfortunate enough to die during a fight (or, in multiplayer, if all of you died), you had to start again from the very beginning. This made some encounters extremely irritating (instead of, you know, fun), especially when their Enrage Timers ran out and they became even more imbalanced.

Imagine trying to fight a major boss several times because you keep dying once the three-minute mark was hit. This begs the question, why was Blizzard trying to make boss fights on Torment difficulty short? Shouldn’t the battles be longer to encourage more excitement and personal self-satisfaction once they are defeated?

To remedy this, let's see a return to the old 'free' battle system of Diablo II, where players could keep fighting bosses without having to restart completely if everyone died. Furthermore, the Enrage Timer should be an optional feature instead of a built-in aspect of Torment-level fights, because going up against something so overpowered only satisfied truly committed gamers, whilst irritating everyone else.
