Doctor Who: 10 Things The 2021 Video Game NEEDS To Be Great

6. Let Us Customise The Game With Our Favourite Parts Of Each Doctor

As well as having their favourite Doctor, Whovians also have their favourite companion, TARDIS interior, sonic screwdriver, title sequence, costume, and more.

It would be a shame to let all that variety go to waste, and because most Doctor Who fans like different elements from different eras - for example, Four's costume with Twelve's TARDIS - why not let us customise these different elements within the game?

Here's an example: you know when a game boots up, and all those company logos flash on the screen? Well, this game could boot up with the Doctor Who title sequence instead, and the company logos could fly in and out like the actors' names do in the show. If this happens, why not let fans choose which title sequence they want? Whether it's Matt Smith's second, David Tennant's first, or even the 1963 original.

Similarly, if the TARDIS is in the game (and it almost definitely will be) then let players choose their favourite interior. If the sonic screwdriver makes an appearance, let us change that too - and the same goes for the Doctor's costume. Furthermore, why not let players adjust the overall look of the visuals? For example, there could be an option to play the game in grainy black-and-white, just like the Hartnell and Troughton eras.

In short, if there's a player out there who wants the Tenth Doctor's sonic with the Eighth Doctor's TARDIS and the Third Doctor's costume... let them have it!

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
