Doom 4: 10 Big Reasons It'll Be The Best Shooter Of 2016
8. The Monsters
An FPS is only as good as its enemies, and the Doom franchise has some of the best monsters of all - a fact that has always helped distinguish it from other shooters. The creature design is just so iconic. Who can forget the gun-toting zombiemen, fireball-throwing Imps, or the plasma-spewing Cacodemons? These creatures all give the franchise one hell of an identity. Hence, it is extremely important that any Doom maintain these iconic beasts no matter how much times passes. Thankfully, from what has been shown so far, Doom 4 looks to be doing a fantastic job translating and updating these classic designs into the state of the art visuals we come to expect from modern video games. All the demons seen so far look like their 2D sprites brought to life; a natural extension of what came before. For fans this is a godsend, and gives further credence that Doom 4 will be the sequel weve been waiting for. The new looks appear to strike a great balance between adhering to the older artwork and taking creative liberties; at once recognizable as they are new. Its great to see them back, and that only makes you more anxious to get back behind that shotgun and blast them back to hell.
