Doom 4: 10 Big Reasons It'll Be The Best Shooter Of 2016

3. It's Unapologetically Violent

Doom has always been a violent and bloody game series. The original stirred up heated debates among politicians and parents regarding its violent content and the effects it could have on people, particularly children. It of course survived and even thrived off this controversy, and decades later the franchise seems fairly quaint when compared to modern games. Based on all the gameplay footage seen so far, Doom once again looks to be pushing the boundaries of taste (as it should). While it€™s certain no one will be quite as outraged as some people were back in the day, Doom 4 is still incredibly gory and, thanks to its admittedly silly subject matter, is able to indulge in acts of brutality with a sense of sadistic glee rarely found in AAA video games. There€™s a feeling that Doom 4 will be appropriately unapologetic about its violent content. This year€™s E3 footage alone displayed heads being ripped open, limbs being pulled apart and bodies being torn to shreds by a chainsaw. Some have criticized such animations for being too violent already, which to everyone else, is simply a sign the game is on the right track.
