With high accuracy and decent damage both up close and far away, the Plasma Rifle is the obvious standard loadout when getting through point A to point B as messily as possible is your only objective.

While not serving any particular tactical purpose, the Jack of all Terminations nature of this weapon, coupled with its AoE shield overcharge feature, makes it a strong candidate for default weapon of choice. Just make sure not to stand too close to that Doom Hunter.

Plus its mods are nothing to be sniffed at either, with the heat blast in particular serving as an effective tool to shove back Demons when you’re in a tight spot. Still, if Doom Guy really wants to repel demons without touching them, he should invest in a good crucifix. No recharge time on one of those. A lot cheaper, too.
