DOOM Eternal Vs DOOM 2016: Which Is Better?
4. Learning Curve - Doom
Okay, so while the new difficulty in Doom Eternal was a welcome change of pace, there was a rather steep learning curve.
The beginning of the game is business as usual, shooting and glory killing, but as the game progressed, your arsenal improves. For example, you're given a shoulder grenade launcher that cools
down after use and napalm fire, which sets enemies ablaze,
making them drop armor pieces.
But that's not all. You're also given a grenade mod that freezes enemies and a new melee weapon that requires "energy" pickups. Still, that's not all, like mentioned before, a lot of enemies have specific weak points you can exploit for the upper hand in a fight.
Remember all that? Well, try remember all that when you have over a dozen enemies throwing projectiles and clawing at you.
A lot of the time, you'll actually forget you have a grenade mod or napalm fire because you're too busy trying to remember which weapon mod will be more useful in the coming fight.
Doom 2016, while obviously not as in depth as Eternal, was much more forgiving to those who couldn't remember a tedious amount of tutorials.
