Dungeons And Dragons: 10 Best Subclasses You Need To Play!

7. Ranger - Gloom Stalker Conclave

Templar Dungeons and Dragons
The CW

By my estimation, most people will tell you that the Ranger is usually one of weaker classes constructed in 5th Edition. I mean Wizards of the Coast themselves put out an update that was later retracted to address its many issues. So regrettably, underpowered it shall stay.

But that doesn’t mean all rangers are bad, no sir. For a prime example, take a gander at the Gloom Stalker. Built to fight in the darkness, the Gloom Stalker becomes impossible to detect by creatures relying on night vision if it stays in the shadows.

The Gloom Stalker excels at going big early. It’s first turn in combat grants a bonus to speed, an extra attack, and extra force damage on top of said attack, a very rarely resisted damage type. Pair this with the Ranger spell Zephyr Strike, and you’re dropping some huge damage early on.

Later benefits see you become more resistant to certain spell effects, and varying abilities allow you to turn your misses to hits, and your opponents hits to misses. Elusive, speedy, and deadly, the Gloom Stalker provides an amazing chance to play the stealth archer of your dreams.
